Ultrasound Questions

When is the best time to get 3D/4D/HD done?
This depends on when you wish to see your baby, with many mothers coming multiple times throughout their pregnancy. Earlier in pregnancy, 14-24 weeks you will see cute, tiny body parts, and often the baby is dancing around. Mid pregnancy, 24-30 weeks baby is growing and filling out, you can see facial features better in this stage. Later in pregnancy, 30-35 weeks baby will show a full-faced baby, with chubby hands and feet. After 35 weeks baby is running out of room and it can be more difficult to get clear full face pictures. All babies are different and we have gotten some of our most amazing images all the way up to 38 weeks.
3D images are still images. 4D images are the moving images of baby and you see exactly what baby is doing at that time. HD is the most advanced imaging and brings out more detail in baby’s features bringing the image of your baby to life.

Ultrasounds have been used for over 50 years, with millions of images produced. Numerous studies and medical research have shown no adverse side effects when properly used. The same frequency is used for 3D/4D/HD as your doctor uses in 2D ultrasound. There is no radiation involved when using sonography.

Every baby’s image is going to be different. Many factors determine the clarity of an ultrasound image. The amount and clarity of amniotic fluid around baby, gestational age, position of baby, and body condition of mother (we are all different), are a few factors that affect the image.

We recommend expectant moms to drink as close to a gallon of water each day, beginning 4 days before the ultrasound. If this is done to the best of your ability we can almost always get good images of baby if they are in a good position.

We can determine gender in an ultrasound at 14-22 weeks of pregnancy. If mom has been able to drink the recommended amount of water leading up to the session, it’s very likely we will be able to reveal gender. We never guess, if we are not 100% positive you will be offered a free rescan, as long as fluid requirements have been met. This rarely happens if the water prep is completed.
Please No! There is no guarantee baby will be in the correct position at the time of your ultrasound. If water prep is not completed and fluid is not clear we cannot tell you the gender.
We offer rescans if we are not able to capture a partial image of baby’s face. We have lots of tricks to get baby to move to help lower the chance a rescan will be necessary. If a rescan is needed a small fee will be applied. If rescan is resulting from fluid not being clear enough due to insufficient fluid intake a $40 fee will be applied. Rescans must be done within 7-10 days and must be done on a weekday. Rescans are not available on Saturdays.

We print pictures immediately following your session and you take them home with you. If you purchased a package that includes emailed images or video they are emailed the same day through “WETRANSFER”
